"Stores come up with as much as 50 per cent discount offer on this festive season"

With the festive season approaching nearer, furniture traders are offering attractive schemes to cash in on this huge opportunity. As the last festive season was not good for business, this year businessmen are starting early with special offers so as to make the most of this golden opportunity to allure customers. Many local and branded furniture can now be bagged for half their prices as traders are offering discounts up to 50 per cent.

Index Furniture at Jawalakhel is having its Index Annual Sale 2016. On select items, Index offers discounts up to 50 per cent which is valid till October 15. “Like every year, this year also we are offering discounts till Dashain. Customers can enjoy this scheme on stock items,” said Priyanka Shrestha, Assistant Marketing Manager at Index Furniture Nepal.

According to her, during the festive season they expect sales to increase by 50 per cent. Citing that the market was down last year, she said, “We are optimistic about this season. We have also introduced new arrivals targeting the festive season. We have four new bedroom sets, sofas in leather, fabric and PU.” According to her, customers await for new arrivals more than discount offers at their store.

Furniture Land at Tripureshwor also offers a flat 25 per cent discounts on every purchase as their Dashain Tihar festive offer. The store imports furniture from China, Thailand and India. “Festivals bring joy to us and we are spreading happiness to customers by giving discount offers. The festive season is the best opportunity for both customers and seller,” said Saurav Joshi, Managing Director at the store.

Joshi informed that they usually witness 50 per cent higher sales during the festive month as compared to normal days. “Unlike many other players, we provide flat discounts on every purchase both on new arrival and present stock,” he said, adding that they also give a year’s warranty for their products.

As a part of their festive offer, Uni-Q Furniture offers five to 20 per cent discount on the purchase of products worth more than Rs 200,000. “Generally, we don’t give discounts more than seven per cent.

So this festive season is the best opportunity for customers to purchase made in Nepal furniture at discounted prices,” said Shrawan Khadka, Showroom Incharge at Uni-Q Furniture at Narayanchaur. He informed that all furniture is made up of solid wood and is more durable.

Mac Decor Furniture is also offering 30 per cent discount for this festive season that will last till Tihar. “People eagerly wait for the festive season to purchase products at very affordable prices and we are providing discounts for our customers when their purchasing power is also high,” said Saika Joshi Sthapit, Proprietor at Mac Decor, Kupondole.

Citing that the last year was sluggish, she said, “We are hopeful about this year and unlike other years we are providing five per cent more discount.” According to her, there is a tough competition in the market. The store imports furniture from China, however, sofas are made in Nepal. According to her, TV tables, sofas, dining tables and showcases are most sought after products in the festive season.
