KL Tower, a shopping mall-cum-multiplex, is all set to open formally in Chuchchepati, Kathmandu, on October 8.

The 10-storey mall has already opened a departmental store on its ground floor, while branded stores, a revolving viewing tower on top of the building, and a conference hall will be opened on the official launch day.

General Manager Ganesh Dhungana said they have almost completed construction work and are now working on interior. He said almost all the shopping units have received booking.

The company plans to offer all the basic facilities so as to make the mall a one-stop shopping destination. Dhungana said the business complex is mainly targeted at local residents.

Spread over 150,000 sqft, the mall has allocated the ground floor a departmental store; first floor for branded showrooms; and second and third floors will showcase readymade garment and other accessories. The first, second, and third floors consists of 61 shops. While a game zone will be the attraction on the fourth floor, the fifth will house a food court with 15 stalls capable to serve 1,500 people at a time.

A multiplex on the sixth, seventh and the eight floors will feature three cinema halls that can accommodate 640 people at a time. “The cine units have been equipped with advanced technologies, including Dolby Digital sound system, and are also made compatible for 3D movies,” said Dhungana.

The revolving viewing tower on top of the building with a standard restaurant, which the company claims to be the first of its kind in Nepal, will allow visitors to view the panoramic view and cultural heritage of the Kathmandu valley using telescope.

Dhungana said the revolving tower will help attract both domestic and foreign visitors to the shopping mall. He said they are also planning to operate a separate segment targeted at children.

The mall is equipped with central air conditioning system and 24-hour power backup system. As for parking, the complex has come up with a double basement parking lot that can accommodate up to 80 four-wheelers and 400 two-wheelers.
