ML 4.8 tremor hits Dolakha, epicentre close to Tibet

A light tremor of local magnitude 4.8 hit Dolakha district, bordering Tibet, at 4:08 am on Tuesday morning.

According to the National Seismological Centre, it was an aftershock of April 25 earthquake. The epicentre lies in the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, south of the district headquarters Charikot.

The coordinates of location where the tremor originated are given as 27.93°N, 86.14°E.

The tremor was felt in several eastern districts in the wee hours.

With this, as many as 380 significant aftershocks, of local magnitude 4.0 or above, have followed the devastating ML7.6 earthquake that hit Nepal at 11:56 am on April 25.

The last significant aftershock, recorded by the NSC on Saturday, also was of local magnitude 4.8 with its epicentre in Dolakha.

The majority of aftershocks have their epicentres in Dolakha district.
