The road expansion drive in Kathmandu Valley that had been halted for months will resume from Saturday.
"Demolition work for expansion of roads will continue from Saturday," said Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Executive Chief Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
The Department of Roads, Kathmandu Valley Town Development Authority, Traffic Police and KMC started the road widening drive in the Valley about a year ago, but it was halted due to rainy season, lack of budget and festive season for the last few months.
Since the initiative began, the government has managed to expand a total length of 57-km of roads. "We are coordinating with other authorities to demolish encroachments on the roads," said Adhikari, adding "The demolition will begin from Ranibari area of Kathmandu from Saturday.”
